The Saudi Cabinet on Tuesday praised the submission of Saudi Arabia’s bid to host the 2034 World Cup, according to the Saudi Press Agency. In a session chaired by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Cabinet highlighted the Kingdom’s determination to present an exceptional version of this major sporting event. The bid, submitted to FIFA officials in Paris, aims to bring together 48 teams in one country for the first time.
The bid delegation was led by the Saudi Minister of Sports, Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal, and President of the Saudi Football Federation Yasser Al-Misehal. "Saudi Arabia’s bid to host the FIFA World Cup 2034 is a bid for the future. It is for our children and those who dream big," said the minister.
The Cabinet also reviewed the progress of Saudi Vision 2030, particularly advancements in the housing and health transformation programs. The ministers noted the significant initiatives aimed at increasing homeownership rates among Saudi families, providing thousands of housing units, and improving healthcare accessibility.
Additionally, the Cabinet discussed the Kingdom’s high rankings in labor-market indicators from the World Economic Forum. The number of Saudis employed in the private sector has grown from 1.7 million in 2019 to over 2.3 million in 2024, with unemployment decreasing by 6.7% in the first quarter of this year.
Ministers also welcomed the consultative meeting on peace initiatives in Sudan, reaffirming Saudi Arabia’s commitment to resolving the crisis and restoring stability. The Cabinet emphasized continued support for Yemen, encouraging efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region.
