Dubai has once again claimed the prestigious title of the cleanest city in the world, securing the top spot on the Global Power City Index (GPCI) for an impressive fifth consecutive year. Known for its glittering skyline and pristine streets, the city continues to set global standards in cleanliness and urban maintenance.
The GPCI, issued by Japan’s Mori Memorial Foundation, evaluates the world’s major cities based on their ability to attract people, capital, and businesses. Dubai outperformed 47 other cities worldwide, achieving a remarkable 100% satisfaction rating for city cleanliness from survey respondents.
The report assesses cities across six key areas: economy, research and development, cultural interaction, livability, environment, and accessibility. Dubai’s top ranking in cleanliness is credited to the dedicated efforts of its government and the tireless work of more than 3,200 cleaning engineers and supervisors.
Dubai Municipality, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), highlighted the scale of operations involved in maintaining the city’s spotless reputation. Every day, 855 cleaning vehicles and pieces of equipment are deployed to cover over 2,400 kilometers of main roads and highways, 1,419 square kilometers of investment zones, and 33.4 kilometers of water canals and creeks.

Beyond cleanliness, Dubai has also earned a reputation as one of the happiest and safest cities in the world, according to a recent global survey by Time Out. The survey praised the city for its high quality of life, cutting-edge infrastructure, and world-class dining options.
Dubai’s commitment to sustainability and urban beauty is also evident in its greening initiatives. In November 2024, the Dubai Municipality announced that it had planted more than 2.5 million flowers and plants across the city as part of efforts to enhance the emirate’s environment and livability.
Dubai’s achievement as the cleanest city in the world reflects not only its focus on maintaining high standards but also its ability to balance rapid growth with sustainability and innovation, ensuring a world-class experience for both residents and visitors alike.
