A new era for business licensing in Dubai
Dubai has taken another major step toward becoming a top global business hub with the launch of the “One Freezone Passport.” Announced by the Dubai Free Zones Council, this initiative introduces a single, unified license that allows companies to operate seamlessly across all of the emirate’s free zones.
Cutting costs and simplifying operations
Traditionally, businesses needed multiple permits to expand across different free zones. With the new passport system, entrepreneurs and corporations can now avoid duplicate licensing procedures, lowering operational costs and easing compliance requirements.
“This is a game-changer for investors and entrepreneurs,” said Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Free Zones Council. “It reinforces Dubai’s commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment.”
Aligned with Dubai’s D33 Economic Agenda
The reform is effective immediately and directly supports the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which aims to double the emirate’s GDP by 2033. By consolidating licensing processes, businesses can now expand faster between free zones while still enjoying existing benefits such as tax exemptions and full foreign ownership.
Boosting investment and sector collaboration
Global companies and startups are already adopting the system, attracted by its promise of quicker market entry and reduced scaling costs. The passport is also expected to stimulate foreign direct investment and encourage stronger collaboration across key industries, including technology, logistics, and manufacturing.
Strengthening Dubai’s global competitiveness
By eliminating administrative barriers and creating a unified business landscape, the “One Freezone Passport” not only enhances Dubai’s appeal to international investors but also advances its long-term vision of becoming a leading center for global trade and innovation.
