Before his name began appearing across the global sports-tech landscape, Dmitry Saksonov lived through a period where speaking, building, and defending himself were all stripped away. Today, he leads Blockchain Sports — a $250 million ecosystem reshaping how athletes develop and communities engage with the sport. The contrast between then and now is vast, but every part of it is grounded in truth.
His rise wasn’t fueled by momentum. It was shaped by isolation, rebuilt through discipline, and ultimately elevated by a mission larger than himself.
A Sudden Vanishing
In 2018, Saksonov was running a profitable technology operation across Eastern Europe. The business was stable. The revenue was predictable. It was the first time his life felt structured, not improvised.
Then came the turning point.
Individuals he trusted orchestrated a legal strike that froze his accounts and disrupted operations in a matter of hours. The accusations that followed were fabricated — not the result of wrongdoing, but the result of coordinated interests determined to remove him from his own company.
He was placed in pre-trial detention for more than two years. He was never convicted of any crime.“It’s not the silence that hurts,” he later said. “It’s knowing others are rewriting your story while you cannot speak.”
A Return Without Noise
When he was released in 2020, Saksonov did not return to public life with press statements or retaliatory claims. He returned, focused only on rebuilding the parts of himself that had not been taken away: discipline, resilience, and work ethic.
There was no capital left. No structure. No team. Not even a brand to lean on.
But he had experience — and experience was enough to start again.
He went back to technology, working long hours, reinvesting everything, rebuilding the foundation one step at a time. The recovery was not glamorous. It was slow, methodical, and shaped by the mental endurance he developed in confinement.
Yet financial recovery was never going to be the end of his story.
A New Direction Born Thousands of Miles Away
A trip to Brazil changed his trajectory. While visiting football academies near the favelas of Rio de Janeiro, he witnessed a level of talent that rarely reached the wider world — not because of lack of ability, but because opportunity was unevenly distributed.
He saw children training beside environments marked by instability and limited resources. A local leader told him plainly: “They don’t need rescue. They need access.”
Saksonov made a commitment to build real football fields for the community. The expectation was direct: keep your word, or don’t return.
He delivered.
And for the first time since leaving detention, he felt he was building something that mattered beyond himself.
The Birth of Blockchain Sports
From that moment grew the foundation of Blockchain Sports — an ecosystem built on transparency, discovery, and global accessibility.
The company surged in 2023, scaling from roughly 100 employees to over 1,500. Rapid expansion exposed structural weaknesses: inefficiency, misalignment, and operational noise. Saksonov made tough decisions, restructuring the organization to a core team of 270 committed builders.
From that point forward, the system took form.
Two fully equipped academies were built in Brazil, each using IoT technology to measure player performance. Atleta Network, a proprietary Layer-1 blockchain, was developed to support transparent sports data. An AI-powered evaluation system was introduced to help identify promising talent anywhere in the world.
In February 2024, Blockchain Sports presented its progress at Dubai’s Coca-Cola Arena in front of 16,000 attendees, along with more than 120 legendary football figures. It marked a shift: the man who once had no voice was now at the center of a global sports-tech conversation.
A Future Built on Clarity
Saksonov does not frame his story as a dramatic return. He frames it as an evolution — one shaped by adversity and sharpened by responsibility. He knows systems can collapse without warning. He experienced it. He knows reputations can be targeted. He lived it. And he understands that purpose must replace noise if something meaningful is to last.
“I’m not trying to prove anything,” he says. “I’m trying to build something that stands on its own.”
