Ministry of Culture’s Culinary Arts Commission publishes six landmark studies charting the transformation of the Kingdom’s food economy, aligning tradition with Vision 2030 prosperity.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced the release of six national studies mapping the transformation of its culinary economy, underscoring the Ministry of Culture’s commitment to positioning food as both a cultural emblem and an engine of growth.

The reports, unveiled on 17 August by the Culinary Arts Commission, detail how restaurants, SMEs, workforce development, technology adoption, and tourism are shaping a high-growth sector that supports Vision 2030 milestones.

Seventy-two percent of participants view culinary arts as a promising career path with strong future potential in Saudi Arabia. The reports further highlight pressing challenges, including food waste and sustainability, while also pointing to growth opportunities in tourism, hospitality, and agri-tech as key drivers of national resilience.

Mayada Badr, CEO of the Culinary Arts Commission, said:

"Our vision is to place culinary arts at the heart of Saudi Arabia’s global influence, where heritage, innovation, and leadership converge. These reports indicate that the sector is not only cultural but also carries corporate and strategic importance."

Beyond cultural significance, the studies emphasize measurable impact. Artificial intelligence pilots in Saudi kitchens are already cutting food waste by nearly a third and optimizing supply chains. The efficiencies lower costs, enable greater job creation, and raise dining standards, encouraging longer tourist stays and higher spending. With the sector on course to generate over one million jobs by 2030, culinary innovation is emerging as a vital contributor to national resilience and economic diversification.

The Culinary Arts Commission will integrate the findings into youth training initiatives, SME accelerator programmes, and international collaborations. By embedding research into policy and industry practice, Saudi Arabia is reinforcing its role as a cultural leader and an economic powerhouse.
