With a mission to prevent electrical accidents, SKYX Platforms Corp. is setting new standards for home construction, expansion, and efficiency. Its “plug-and-play” solutions, such as the SkyPlug and the All-In-One Platform, ensure that every home functions more safely. Through innovation, key partnerships, and extensive testing, SKYX has proven its reliability and is actively transforming the electrical industry.
The Inspiration for SKYX
After years of frustration in the lighting and real estate industries, Rani Kohen, founder of SKYX Platforms Corp. (NASDAQ: SKYX), was inspired to make a difference in electrical safety. He sketched out his idea for SkyPlug on a napkin and set off on a journey to have a major impact on electrical safety. It would take 15 years of design and development to finalize his concept.
Navigating the NEC Hurdles
Founded in 2004, SKYX soon faced the challenge of developing a safe, weight-bearing, plug-and-play ceiling receptacle, all while navigating the rigorous National Electrical Code (NEC) standardization process. For more than a century, the electrical industry has relied on traditional wiring methods and stringent safety requirements, meaning that SKYX’s SkyPlug had to be tested extensively to prove its reliability.
Growing to Find Success
It was in 2017 that the NEC finally updated its receptacle definition to include the SkyPlug, demonstrating and validating the product’s reliability, safety, and efficacy. By 2023, SkyPlug was included in 10 NEC segments with generic names WSCR and WSAF approved. Equipped with over 100 issued and pending patents globally, the company has built its visibility in high-profile urban development. Certainly, SKYX has earned its current status as a Nasdaq (SKYX) listed company.
SKYX’s Next Major Project
Most recently, SKYX partnered with a $3 billion mixed-use Smart City development in Miami’s Little River District, a 63-acre urban project led by SG Holdings. The development is set to include over 5,700 condos and apartments, 350,000 square feet of retail space, as well as 1.5 million square feet of green walkways, parks, bike paths, and shuttle lanes. Additionally, the project will include a new $35 million Tri-Rail Station.
For their part, SKYX is set to supply more than 500,000 units of its advanced plug-and-play Smart Building technologies, including ceiling outlets, artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled platforms, smart lighting, emergency products, and more, to equip the new smart city development. Not only does this collaboration elevate the company as a leader in smart home innovation, but it also demonstrates the effectiveness of its safe electrical solutions.
As Khadija Mustafa, senior technology advisor to SKYX and global AI and sales leader at Microsoft, stated, “This Miami groundbreaking smart city project marks the start of a new era in intelligent living. While phones and cars have leapt ahead, the building socket has been left behind—until now. SKYX is laying the infrastructure to not just connect homes, hotels, and communities, but to unlock a gateway for AI-enabled services that will redefine how we live, work, and connect.”
Plans for the Future of Urbanism
Moving forward, SKYX hopes to use this collaboration as a launchpad for establishing SkyPlug as a standard in new home construction and retrofits within the next five years. In a similar vein, the company aims to integrate its Smart Platform with other major Internet of Things (IoT) systems for safer, more connected homes. Whatever comes next, SKYX is sure to continue innovating to make the electrical industry safer.
