Tashkent-based technology company OX System has signed a partnership agreement with Urovo Technology Co., Ltd., a Chinese manufacturer of RFID readers and mobile data collection terminals. This marks a significant moment for retail in Central Asia, as businesses will for the first time gain access to RFID hardware fully adapted for the local market. Details of the partnership agreement are outlined below.
Growing demand for localized RFID in Central Asia
The need for a partnership between RFID manufacturers and specialized software developers is driven by the retail market in Central Asia itself. The market is growing fast: the share of e-commerce in total retail in Uzbekistan is projected to rise from 2% in 2022 to 9–11% by 2027. This trend is characteristic of several CIS countries, Turkey, and the Gulf states as well. Since Chinese RFID manufacturers often sell hardware without localized software that businesses cannot configure independently, a partnership with a software developer benefits both sides and will positively influence the development of the Asian market.
Details of the OX System and Urovo Technology agreement
Under the terms of the contract signed by Urovo Technology and OX System, the Chinese company will supply RFID hardware to retailers in Central Asia and the CIS together with OX System software. This joint solution combines the hardware and a ready-made software layer in a single package: real-time inventory tracking, synchronization of the point of sale, warehouse, and online catalog, and support for local payment systems and fiscal requirements.
Urovo Technology has been operating in the market for 26 years and is a well-known manufacturer of mobile data collection terminals, RFID readers, and POS equipment for retail, logistics, warehousing, and other sectors. Dozens of countries source hardware from Urovo Technology, but in some regions, the absence of localized software creates integration challenges. Entering larger, high-growth markets is now made possible through OX System.
OX System is a technology company from Uzbekistan that has been building a Commerce OS for more than 13 years — a full-featured platform covering the complete set of business management tools, including POS, warehouse management, CRM, payments, analytics, and RFID software. The platform currently operates across 5,000+ sales locations and serves 600+ brands in 7 countries. Clients include regional franchise operators such as Mango, Reebok, Puma, Pandora, Tom Tailor, and Aldo. Through the contract with Urovo, OX System will, in turn, be able to offer a greater number of its clients fully developed RFID solutions already adapted for the local market, with no additional configuration or procurement required on the part of retailers.
Benefits for retail in Central Asia and beyond
The RFID software developed by OX System delivers next-generation inventory management. First, inventory becomes fast: standard stock counting takes 4–6 hours with the store closed, while Urovo hardware running OX System software handles the same task in 15–25 minutes, scanning up to 1,000 items in that time. Hundreds of items are read simultaneously at distances of up to 10 meters without a direct line of sight to each tag — an important factor for retailers dealing with stock mismatches and manual counting errors.
Another aspect is more precise tag reading for different tasks. Beyond faster inventory counts, Urovo hardware with OX System software enables scanning an entire batch of goods through reading gates, with the delivery note generated automatically at goods receipt without opening boxes. Manual labeling of individual items is also eliminated, since the joint solution from the Chinese and Uzbek partners supports mass tagging at the point of receipt.
Shoppers benefit as well: store staff can check items in the database and locate them in the warehouse quickly, while customers in fitting rooms can see available sizes and select the one they need. The checkout process becomes faster and simpler, as all items in a single basket are read in seconds without individual manual scanning.
"These partnerships help us strengthen the core of our system," said Aziz Zakirhadjaev, founder and CEO of OX Group. "When hardware and software work together, technology becomes the operational foundation for our partners, not just a tool."
The Urovo contract is part of a broader hardware strategy at OX System. In spring 2026, the company is participating in the Shanghai Technology Accelerator and is in negotiations on partnerships with other Chinese RFID hardware manufacturers. Ahead lie plans to enter additional markets, opening up more opportunities for growing retail businesses.
