Abu Dhabi Ranks Among Top Global Cities for Employment, Surpassing New York and Singapore

Abu Dhabi has claimed its place as one of the top five cities worldwide for employment opportunities, surpassing renowned cities like New York and Singapore. This recognition comes from the prestigious Boston Consulting Group, which placed the UAE capital in the top tier of its global ranking.

London continues to lead this ranking, holding the top position since 2014. However, the Middle East has shown remarkable progress with both Dubai and Abu Dhabi securing spots in the top five. Dubai remains steady at third place, while Abu Dhabi has moved up a notch since last year.

The runner-up spot was taken by Amsterdam, with New York rounding out the top five. Other cities making the top ten include Berlin, Singapore, Barcelona, Tokyo, and Sydney.

This ranking was part of BCG's Dream Destinations and Mobility Trends report, which surveyed 150,000 individuals across 188 countries to determine their preferred destinations for work and the reasons behind their choices.

The cities that made the top 20 also included Toronto, Los Angeles, Paris, Melbourne, Austin, and Madrid, highlighting their appeal to global professionals.

The factors driving these relocation choices are primarily financial and economic opportunities, career advancement, and an improved quality of life. Furthermore, when choosing a country for employment, the presence of English as an official working language, competitive salaries, a welcoming culture, and efficient relocation processes were deemed crucial by professionals.

Abu Dhabi has had a notable few months, gaining various accolades such as being named the 25th best city globally by and the safest city in the world in January 2024. Additionally, it recently earned the 10th place on the Smart City Index 2024, reflecting its ongoing development and appeal as a global city.
