UAE Officially Ranked the Safest Country in the World
The United Arab Emirates has claimed the top spot in the 2025 Numbeo Global Safety Index, officially ranking as the safest country in the world. With a mid-year score of 85.2, the UAE overtook Andorra, which held the position in previous years.
Andorra now sits in second with a score of 84.8, despite its modest population of 80,000—smaller than many neighborhoods in Dubai.
What Makes the UAE So Safe?
Numbeo’s ranking is based on public perception gathered over the past 36 months, analyzing multiple safety-related factors. These include: Overall perception of crime levels Safety when walking alone at night Concerns about violent crime Risk of burglary Experience or fear of discrimination
The results place the UAE ahead of Qatar (84.6), Taiwan (83.0), and Macao (81.8) in the global top five. Fellow GCC member Oman also ranks highly, coming in sixth with a score of 81.4.

The UAE doesn't just shine nationally—it also stands out on the city level. According to Numbeo's 2025 mid-year update, five UAE cities are now ranked in the global top 10: Abu Dhabi – Score: 88.0 Ajman – Score: 85.5 Dubai – Score: 83.9 Ras Al-Khaimah – Score: 81.7 Sharjah – Score: 80+ (exact score not listed)
Notably, Abu Dhabi has held the title of world’s safest city for nine consecutive years, while Ajman and Dubai continue to rise in rank.
